Car: Building car -> breaking car -> fixing car -> start over

Post

I am in the middle of dropping my built S13 KA24DE-T with s13 5 speed into my new S14, which is an automatic. I am also swapping to a s14 5spd driveshaft and I am using my VLSD from my hatch. Also, at least for the time being, the car will be running off the '95 auto ecu. If it doesn't work I will have to find a 5spd ecu to swap out.

Now my only concern at the moment is that I am wondering about the wiring from the transmission. It looks like it is very different, especially since it is an auto. So I am going to have to splice all the wires in it looks like. My question is this. The only wiring I need to accomplish is the following, correct?

-Short the park/neutral switch, so the car thinks it is always in park/nuetral so I can start it.

-Somehow wire up the speed sensor so my speedo works

-Wire up the reverse switch so that when I put the car in reverse the reverse lights come on.

Are those the only things I need to wire up? Because there is still the Neutral, 4th gear, and 5th gear sensors on the s13 5 spd. These are not needed for the car to run correctly, right? I'm not sure what purpose the nuetral switch has on a 5 spd anyway, but I believe the 4th and 5th sensors are only for the rpm govenor, so you can go over ~120 mph.. not necessarily a bad thing not to have connected,

You guys have a lot more knowledge in the more complicated bits, so I figured I'd ask the professionals =)

Thanks...

you are correct. i think that the 4th and 5th need to be connected. if not i believe you get a 5000 rpm redline. i may be wrong.

Well from how I understand it.. when the ECU sees that it is in 4th (the 4th gear switch is closed) it will redline at ~6300rpms. And when it is in 5th it will only let you get to about 5000rpms.

Those are both roughly 120mph when driving.

I think I'll be fine by not having them connected, it should just not let the car govern its top speed (sweeeet!)

Any wiring tips on how to bypass the park/nuetral for the starting?

Same for the reverse switch?

Just need to now the location so I can bypass them. Otherwise I'll have to get out my multimeter and spend the better part of an afternoon sorting it all out..

Thanks

what i did for my p/n switch was i found the plug by the fuse box. then i ran one side of that connector(its just a two wire connector) to the ign switch start terminal. then i ran the other to the starter solenoid.

Is it the very top connector of the three mounted to the fuse box?

I just got this car a week or so ago and the top connector is gone and just has the two wires spliced together.. I think the previous owner already did this step himself.
