car: 92 240zx coupe

the car has a digital dash with hud. the hud and speedo doesnt work. i thought maybe it was a car problem so i swapped the gauges into a friends 89 240sx but still didnt work. i took apart the gauges and tried the heat the capacitor test but still doesnt work. now i have purchased another 1 (which i can return ) and im still not getting any speedo or hud they just wont light up.

so how could i give power to the speedo module in a bench type setup so that i can see if maybe the sub harness or something is bad (i did check the subharness but cant find anything wrong with it)and also does any 1 have a technical diagram of the speedo module so i might be able to go over thati do have decent soldering skills so anything you want me to check i can possiabley do

thanks and sorry for the long post but i have been working on this for a week now and i just cant figure it outjoe

It's just ur digital cluster, those go bad...

did you try swapping in an analog cluster? that should work just fine.

If you wanna bench test the speedo, you need to d/l the FSM & then look @ the wiring diagram - it will tell you which color wires need power/ground/etc.

Back in the day we ran across this, and the geezers were finding breaks in the printed circuit.Resoldered them and they never came back.Hope this helps.

The analog tach will not work in a car set up for the digital cluster. You need to switch the tach from the digital cluster, or do an aftermarket, its obviously cheaper and cleaner to change it out, and very simple.

An analog tach will work fine in a digital cluster (I'm running one right now). His isn't working because he's putting a SOHC tach in a DOHC tach.
