Hey guys just put a ca18det in my s12. I'm having an issue with it looking for thoughts. Basically the car is dies constantly. Un hooked a large vacuum line now it doesn't die but idles high as hell. Any ideas on what it could be?

AAC or FICD stuck closed. The AAC is directly under the throttle body and the FICD is on the upper plenum behind the throttle body.

Yea, sounds like an idle control valve issue. The CA has 3 separate idle control valves. One is for cold start high idle. It's under the throttle body, The other two are on the side of the plenum, facing the valve covers. One is long and skinny, that's the fast idle for the A/C. The other is short, fat and round, it's right below the long skinny one and it's the primary idle control valve. Also, there's a piece of aluminum that both of those bolt to that often gets fouled up with oil and dirt and won't let the valves operate properly.

Thanks guys. I will definitely try that. However. It seems that krazy skwerel may have messed the turbo up so we are at a stand still right now.

He was driving heard a loud pop oil all underneath the car. Car still has all oil and runs. So we don't know. :( I just want to drive my s12.

cleaned the sensors and it didnt really help. THe car has been backfiring and basically is not drivable. I plan to recheck my wiring to the cas as I did redo that wiring after I pulled the motor out of my 240sx. The motor ran great in the s13 just the turbo was crap.

Have you pulled the codes? Also make sure the cam timing didn't jump a tooth.

haven't pulled codes, As far as timing the car will idle perfect for a couple minutes but then it will start idleing like its on 3 cylinders.

That sounds like a bad ignition amplifier or a bad coil pack. Maybe a bad ground for the coil packs?

went to read codes and my red light is out so I got half of the code, but from that I am pretty sure it was flagging code 45 for injector fault. I disconnected the #1 fuel injector and the car idled no problem and stopped smoking, so i think its a stuck injector. Working on getting another one to see if it does the trick.

If it is a stuck injector, check the oil level ASAP! I had a bad pintle cap on a KADE that leaked fuel badly. I didn't figure it out in time and that cylinder had so much fuel going through it that it washed all the oil off the cylinder wall, wore out the piston and rings, and more importantly, diluted the oil with fuel so badly that it ruined all of the bearings as well. Since the CA uses top feed injectors, it's unlikely that a stuck open injector could move enough fuel to do that, but better safe than sorry.

yeah I plan on changing the oil when I change the injector. The car has been sitting since it took a crap n me on the way to work.

Update: Injector replaced and due to some issues had to replace the fuel pump as well. None the less the bastard is running strong now and doesn't try to die. I am not trying to chase down why the car will not turn off when the ignition is turned off. Last time I removed an old fuse for the original ecu and that somehow worked. It's weird but the biggest thing is it runs. So onto the boost issue. Going to pressure test the piping and intercooler tomorrow if all goes well.
