When I bought my SL in July I never even got to see the S model close up. Today I finally did get to look at the S model and the SL is without doubt the way to go. I couldn't be happier with mine. I gave back my leased Xterra for the Versa. Lease was up though.

I haven't yet seen an S close up, but the SL is supposed to have a nicer interior also in that (besides the center armrests both front and rear) it uses soft-touch materials... so all of the rests are padded and soft, not hard.

Yea the only real differences between the 2 is the options available and the interior. I had a look at both interiors and my wife didn't enjoy the seats of the SL. She wears spaghetti strapped tank tops and summer dresses that expose a lot of her back and she didn't like the way the seats felt on her skin. She liked the smooth seats of the S. She didn't mind going without the extras that you get with SL because she knows hubby can't stop tinkering and adding

I'm not sure if this is a Factory or a Dealer add-on, but our friend's Magnetic Gray S has an extra molding piece along the edge of the wheel wells that neither of our SL models have.

As others have stated, most of the differences between the base S and base SL are interior features and the quality of some components. The SL also has Alloy Wheels (instead of steel wheels + hub caps) and the Non-manual trans is the CVT in the SL instead of the 4-speed Auto in the S. From there, the factory options available for the SL seem more extensive and wider than the S.

Plus the SL has that sweet "SL" badge on the back that lets everyone with an S know that you're better than them.

Oh, wait, it doesn't...

I believe it was intended as a $26 Parts joke.

I have the molding too. It's a dealer add-on.

the SL has:

Height adjustable driver's seatCenter ArmrestUpgraded 6-disc stereo with Ipod jackCruise controlAlloy wheelsUpgraded fabric on the seats and panelsLeather-wrapped steering wheelAbility to get CVT instead of 4AT

Did I miss anything?

Not sure if all that is worth $2000, but I just couldn't live without cruise control.

Well, consider that base SL also includes everything in the S power package, so the difference is really more like $1300, unless you include on that list the items in the power package.
