help me out here, i'd like to know who has experience with these springs.

how is the cornering capability? comfort? drop?

also, what are some good shocks in the $70 each range?

im looking for the best possible shock/spring combo here (good drop and cornering) for about $500.

what do you guys say?

RS*R race -

Cornering - excellent, very flat, minimal roll, feels like oversteer easier to dial in, very good road feelRide - busy, but tolerable I guess, ok for daily driving depending on road qualityDrop - just about right, not excessively low, not ugly high, beautiful.

Dampers - KYB AGX - so far ok but I suggest stronger dampers (Konis) if you run these springs.

Summary: I love them.

i have Tein Stechs w/ KYB AGX

ride quality: the ride is bumpy, but bearable

track worthyness: more like street springs really, still get decent body roll, not good in my book

drop: not low enough for me personally but for most it is perfect

If you get AGXs or GR-2s, it is reccomended by KYB (I emailed them) for you to not use a spring that is harder than stock or drops the car more than an inch. AGXs and GR-2s were designed for stock spring rates (2.1kg/mm F/R for S13). Not to say that you will not have success with the KYBs, but I am just passing on what they told me when I asked.

For an unmatched spring/strut combo (meaning a set that was not designed to work togeather on our car like the S-Tunes I preach so much about) I would get RS*R Race Springs and Apex'1 World Sport dampers (which run about $1100 for the setup) so that I had peice of mind that my shocks were going to last a long, long time.

Sorry to bash AGXs, but the only experience that I have with them is bad. I have 2 friends that have them and they have seems to turn to mush rather quickly. They both kept them on full hard full time (another practice frowned upon by KYB) and they have just had a short life. I do like KYB however. All Nismo suspensions are based around KYB dampers.

If you can save your milk money for a bit longer, get these. I've had them for a year (and paid WAY more than that) and I LOVE them. Stiff enough to make the car flat and track well through corners, but compliant enough for the daily drive. Girls compalin that my car is too "hard" while most guys love how connected the car feels to the road now. http://www.trademotion.com/par...=3078

That's odd, KYB actually recommended I keep them on full setting with the "hard" springs to prolong the shock life. Who knows.

Apexi dampers sound yummy...I'll have to look at them.

I think they're 26mm rear and 21mm front, hollow bars if memory serves me correctly.

For some reason I think they're the same size as JDM K sways, I could be wrong.

the apexi WS damper system is a coilover with spring, it does not include the upper mount though.-Chet

kind of an old post but I'm running whiteline flat out springs on AGXs. Daily driving ride is good with the fronts on 2 and rears on 2 or 3. At autox I turn them full up in front and around 6 in the back. If I run full stiff out back the rear end is all over the place. I can rotate the car nicely on 6. I know the spring rates of the whitelines aren't very stiff. they are something like 150 linear up front and the rears are progressive but I can't remember the spring rate range.

If you use them with lowering springs you effectively have put them in travel, you need to do all that is possible to limit the amount of travel on this setup to prevent the shock from bottoming out (which leads to quickly blown shocks).
