i'm looking to buy a 89-93 240sx, that i plan on swapping an sr into. I've read that the sr swap in 91-93 is more straightforward than 89-90. at phase2motortrend it says for an 89-90 i will need the powersteering parts from a 91-93. how hard are these to find and what is the cost? also it mentions that the driveshaft is shorter but still can be used with sr. does this pose any problem at all. i think it mentioned the gauge cluster is different as well.

are there any other problems i need to know about?

I guess my main question is should i just try to find a 91-93 to make my life easier or if the price is right and i find a nice chassis 89-90 should i go ahead and get it?

i'd appreciate any help

Its not that hard to put the SR in a zenki. You can always go CA if you get a zenki.

This has been answered a million times

The driveshaft will work fine. I used my KA driveshaft

The tach from the sohc will not work correctly, so most people swap out the cluster with one from a dohc or the cluster from their front clip.

The power steering lines do need to be changed if you want p/s. Many people run w/o it, including me.

I think the a/c compressor from the sohc doesn't bolt up at all to the SR, so if you want a/c you will have to get custom lines made or get a S13 DOHC compressor. Or just run w/o a/c. I ran my stock compressor.

Most anything you would ever want to know has been covered if you search a little or check the faq. http://www.srswap.com is a great site.

power steering isn't that hard to convert. just search the junk yards in your area, or go to http://www.car-part.com and see if there's a yard that can pull the lines for you.

the main issue will be wiring, but there's enough writen about that on the site, i'm not even gonna start talking about it.

The SOHC compressor will not fit because it uses a weird mounting style that the DOHC and SR compressors don't use. The way I've seen this solved in the past is to either use the SR compressor (make sure you vent the A/C at a shop that can handle evacuating systems) or you can get the KA bracket redrilled at a machine shop to match the SR's mounting holes (i think all the holes need to be redrilled). My friend did that for a customer's swap and it cost around $60 bucks.
