When I was doing the install of the new steering rack I was under the car looking at the huge pipe menagerie coming down from my turbo and wastegate and then back at the steering shaft on the other side of the motor and I was dumbfounded. how the hell do you guys clear that steering shaft with your downpipes? I pictured the shaft in the LHD position and I just can't see how it can be done with a big pipe.

dood, they BARELY cleear, and we definately cant fit a wastegate anywhere. I cant fathom any way we could use a full length tubular manifold on a lhd car here. Most of the manis i see have the wastegate up top because its a log manifold, or the wastegate is right off the collector on the equal length top mounts, and thats the only way i think itll work for us.

maybe a fowardswept manifold that mounts the turbine ahead of the strut tower? That would give you a nice gentle s-curve in the downpipe and give you some space for a wastegate on top with the exit pipe feeding back into the downpipe.

interesting thought...lots of piping.....but im sure it would would quite nicely. Would it make enuff more power to benefit over the top mount equal length?

think away my friend

i just wish i was where you are.

just a question for you, since youre in japan (i think) how hard would it be to get your hands on a decent ca18det engine harness?

haha, that was funny. They are like lochness monster sightings but without the begging for $3.50.

i think the best plan of action is a rotated mount setup. with the turbo on top you can have a nice big pipe out of it, though it will have to sweep down fairly steeply to clear. should allow for better clearance though. as it stands my stainless o2 houring wont clear the steering column without some serious tough lovin.

there is plenty of room. the most trouble with space i have is the brake cylinger and boosters. on a log manifold you can fit the turbo either up or striaght out towards the strut tower, and the gate directly underneath pointing at the motor mount.

thats how mine is set up. downpipe goes on one side of the shaft, wastegate is almost under my brake master cylinder, and its dump tube goes on the other side of the shaft. Its close... haha

would that be the stock trust manifold? or a cutsom jobbie? and how does that 20g work out for you? i would like a big 18g here in the future...

custom job. its korey's (goofy_ca or whatever his sn was) old manifold and turbo set up. I like it. kinda laggy, but I'm also still running my gt28r tune, so its not getting proper fuel at the proper location. pulls hard up top though
