I recently worked on a 240sx that had a Diff that I have never seen before. I read your article and it seems like you are familiar with the Nissan selection of diffs for the 240sx. I have a few pics I took of the diff I took out but first let me give you a brief description. The diff has 6 (2x3) axle ends. The rear cover bolts are much closer together. The drain plug is on the side of the rear cover. It is some sort of LSD. It has 10F00 Stamped on the top of it. It also has 38311 stamped on the top of it. Do you have any idea what year model Nissan this came in? Manny
Hey Manny!
Well, it sounds familiar. Here's the problem - I've messed with so many S13, Q45, Skyline, and various Datsun diffs, I get them all mixed up.
The 3x2 layout of the flanges and the 10F00 part number tell me it's from an S12 (predecessor to the S13). If youre sure it's a VLSD, and you can determine the ratio, it's probably just fine as a stand-in for the original diff. I'm surprised someone would change it out, though - unless they really abused the stock one and killed it.
Posting your question on the forums as well to see if we can get any more feedback.
