hey fellas...i have searched for days and i cant find much of anything on the questions i have about the sr20det.

How much wheel HP is the stock SR bottom end good for?

at what HP rating would i need(recommend) changing fuel system(injectors, pump...ect....i know this is an opinion and many people have their own...but everyone jump in and let me know)

also, if i were to have an engine imported myself, what do you recommend? red top, black top, notch top? and who would you recommend me having import it instead of going to a performance shop and having them install one of theirs.

also...at what RPM does the SR stop making power?

and an off topic question...what is a good helmet for autoX and drifting in events?

Thanks in advanced for your help. and yes i did you the search and i couldnt find exactly what i was looking for. THanks!!

If you are looking for a stock-internalled high power motor then get a S13 Blacktop engine. They have the stronger 54C internals.

I personally think the SR shouldn't be taken over about 400 if you are looking for long term reliability. I'm not saying it can't be done... I'm just giving you my personal opinion.

370cc - 270whp550cc - 400whp740cc - 520whp

Give or take on the injector limits... depends on BSFC.

Heads are different (use of VTC on the s14/15 heads), the s13 blacktop has ribs on the front instead of being flat like the redtop head, front cover from s13 sr to s14/15, and water pump are different as well from s13 to s14/15. Oil pickup is different in the redtop to all the blacktops.

The bottom ends are generally the same.

S13+S14+S15 blacktops use the same:connecting rods, crankshaft.

S13+S14 blacktops use the same:Pistons

S14 K's MF-T Autech + S15 blacktops use the same:Pistons

This is from the factory, if you needed aftermarket or new OEM parts, they all use the same internals.

93 Model Redtops have ribbed front covers.

About 7000 or so when you run 14 PSI on the stock turbo. The HP is there but you can feel (and see) the turbo running out of steam.

Enjuku Racing in Florida i believe, is running 544whp on stock bottom end on an s13 redtop. hell of a beast there.
