I'm about to purchase 10.5 to 1 pistons in 89.5 mm overbore. I was wondering whether the stock head could handle it with out any serious work on the valves and such. Please share your experience.

Thanxs

Considering there are premade aftermarket pistons for both e and de that are 10.5:1, I can't imagine any special work that would need to be done.I'm having some 10.5:1 custom made and I've talked with JWT who has tuned ecus to to work with 11:1- I doubt you'll run into problems. But I'm not a definitive source so you can't sue me if it goes wrong...

It depends on which cams you are running. If they have a large lift, the pistons might have to be flycut.

Its a single cam 89 motor. I was told that I would have to get shot peened valves at 13-30$ a pop in addition to a head job. I'm also concerned about things such as the cam and whether I have to replace it for the higher compression as well as the ecu. What will I have to do with the ecu to avoid exloded condition. thanks Oh by the way. What is "fly cut"

fly cut, I beleive, is when reliefs are cut into the top of the piston so the valves don't hit it.
