I have a set of cam gears from a spare head. I'm thinking of going to a machine shop and having them cut new notches in the gear so I can advance the cam timing. From what I understand, advancing the cam timing will increase low end torque and decrease the high end horsepower. This is what I want to do.

My questions are:Does anyone have experience with changing the cam timing? What increase in torque can I expect at what amount of advance? How far can I advance the timing before the valves hit the pistons? Are there any aftermarket companies that sell adjustable cam gears?
