How do we find out what "s" is our cars. I have a 95 240 se. I don't think it is the lsd version.

s14= 95+s13= 94-

They look COMPLETELY different, too... so really this shouldnt be an issue at all... but yeah you have a s14b (b is for before- there is the a also [after] that has different head and tail lights and a few other things).

Try to do a 360 with just the gas. If you can you have an lsd

Unless the car has been modded. If you have abs - you most likely have one. If not, you are open diff.

Best way is to look for a bright orange sticker on the actual differential that reads, " Viscous Limited Slip."Atleast I prefer that to speculation because the S14 240 was offered in SO many different forms, mix matching everything imaginable, creating tons of option possibilities...Look at at it to be sure.

Wrong.

Camel has the right idea. This is only true on 95s though.

ive heard a lot of different ways to tell if i have an lsd (89 240sx, s13) and mine just doesnt agree with any of them. i cant check if it leaves 2 tire marks because i have tires that are too sticky and a clutch that doesnt like to grab very well. it doesnt have the sticker, but being an 89, its been around the block a few times so it may have fallen off (?). ive heard the r200 limited slip has cooling fins on it. mine does. ive heard the limited slip and open differential look different. what is different appearance wise exactly? (other than the cooling fins, if the lsd only having them is true). my car has the sport package and ive been told it usually came with it. my car does NOT have hicas or ABS. it is a base model with just about every single option - sport package, active speaker stereo, power windows/locks/mirrors, sunroof, etc. (total price was $18k in 1989!). ive never come across a 240sx like mine, ive yet to find a base model with all this stuff on it, usually people would have just gotten an se, right? anyway, im retarded and obviously rambling so if someone could shed a little light onto my car it would be great.

Jack the rear of your car up. Put it in neutral with E-brake down(do this on level surface obviously!) And spin one tire, If the other tire dosnt spin, or spins the opposite way u dont have lsd, If your tires spin the same way u have LSD.

Hope this helps.-Jon

S14: Checking for LSD using Car's Model number

Find the car's identification plate on the firewall, passenger side.

Check digit 18 in the model # (not the VIN!).

For Feb '94 - July '95: A, C, or E, = LSD

F, or "-" = NO LSD

For July '95 - July '96: A, C, or F = LSD

B, D, or "-" = NO LSD

You can find almost any question in the faq of 240sx.org. This answer is also in there.
