Does anyone know of a place that makes a kit to convert the popup headlights on an S13 to non-flip lights?

Preferably ones that use the 9004 or 9007 series of headlight, but a different one would work great for me if they are available.

If not available, anyone have any idea on how difficult it would be to custom build something like that?

you could always do a silvia conversion.you would get headlights front bumper and maybe hood and fenders i think. but it all bolts straight up. you may have to do some wiring for the headlights though.this is the cheapest way to go I believe. prob will cost anywhere from 500-900 for the conversion.don't quote me though.

Best place to find a Silvia front end?

I'm gonna have to have the whole car painted some time down the road, but it wouldn't be for quite awhile...I'd probably wait until I could afford to paint the whole thing, then just bolt the front end on before getting it painted.

First thing's first though....need an engine ;) This one does nothing but shower the world with gloriously burnt oil...

For now it's nothin but ol' reliable...the '89 Prelude SI

another producer of fixed position lights is a company called AB FLUG the are expensive but I think they look better than any, other than jdm. If I had a hatch s13 I would use them, for a Coupe JDM for sure. This is just my opion take it for what you will. Just search it, it shouldn't be that hard to find.

Contact Jarco or Night7Racing for a Silvia front end conversion. They run about $800 + shipping. http://www.jarcoinc.comhttp://www.night7racing.com/Also check eBay or watch the for sale section here on NICO, or freshalloy or on zilvia.net

Ok, guys.. I am new here and I have searched everywhere and finally came across this post. I have pretty much bought this '92 240 and i cannot stand "Flip-up" headlights. Someone also mentioned to me the RX-7 lights and all I have ever seen on an RX-7 is the Flip-up's. I do not have $700 to spend on those projectors although they are badass, Thats what I want, is projectors. I just need a way to.. i guess fabricate a piece that will fit in place of the factory headlight assembly to hold 2 projectors (I would like to have 2, just because I think it looks better than just 1). I am not into the Silvia Conversion and I dont have the money anyway. I just need to know if someone could help me on this..(what parts do I need, what kind of lights to buy, how to make that piece to hold them, and also what to make it out of) Now, I did see a guy at the local track with a Ford Probe, he had done something like I am talking about but he only had one projector light and it was just a set of those High Intensity fog lights with a couple layers of tint on them. He had them down in the hole and had fitted a piece of plexiglass or something on the top to cover them..I really like this look and I will try to ger a picture..I want it to look something like the East Bear lights but with the clear glass cover. I know it took a whole lot to explain this but I cannot find how to do it anywhere and I dont know where to start. Someone please help a poor guy in need.. Thanks...

Look for another thread that I started on here about a photoshop request with 300ZX headlights....i think a big part of it is the color of the car (very similar to the average Saturn color) but it made the car look a lot like an old Saturn SL/SC....I'd like to fab in some 350Z headlights, but that'd take uber money:(

I'm in the same boat as you though Mav....don't care too much for the Silvia front end, and don't have $800 to drop on headlights....i think what i'm gonna try is to measure out the opening for the headlights, and see what I have to work with....then I'm going to try getting a bent sheet of metal, and get it cut down the way i want it, and splice in connectors for the 9004/9007 series of headlight bulb....good look, but much cheaper than HIDs....then cover with some sort of plexiglass or something

uber l33t idea....find a way to fab in 240Z headlights :):):):):):):)

If you want a cheap way to replace your flip ups with something similiar to the $700 pieces just go get some 16gauge sheet metal from a metal supply shop(look in the phone book) then just cut it and bend it to make a little box drill two big holes in the back for the fog lights. It might take practice if you have never worked wih metal but you should be able to pick up the materials with extra practice sheet metal for under $100. I had a friend do this to his 2nd gen Mr2 and it looked pretty good he also used a piece of lexan from Home Depot on the top to give it a more finished look.

Anyone know the approximate temp of a headlight when it's been burning for say 2 hours?

Gotta make sure I don't get something that will run any chance of melting.

Maverick, this may not be a project that I get to any time soon....I'm going to try, but no promises....right now i'm living with my parents for the summer (where the tools are) but i work 50-60+ hours a week, so not much time...

Once i leave here i'm moving back to school (3 hours away, and minimal tools with none of them power tools)

So we'll see....that's just an idea I had, and i REALLY wanna try just to see if I can do it

If I am able to, I will post pics along the way
