Well, over spring break I figured I'd put my friends' spare 3rd gen RX-7 wheels that he has laying around to good use (when three of your friends have a 3rd gen it's pretty easy to find misc. parts from them.) Long story short: they fit worse than Z32 wheels. The spokes don't clear the calipers (without some big spacers, I had a 5mm and it still doesn't work.) You can see by the pictures below:

The second pic is the back of the wheel rubbing on the strut body. As you can see I have the Z32 brake upgrade, dunno how these would work over stock brakes, but the wheels would still rub the strut.

Is it safe to assume that I will have the same problem in my s13 fastback when I do the 5-lug and Z brake conv? I also have many friends who have, or have had, FDs. So I can get these wheels very cheap. I don't have enough $$ to get the nice aftermarket wheels I want when I do these convs. What other wheels (that came off other cars) would work?

If I wanted to use the Rx-7 wheels, couldn't I get longer lugs and use a larger spacer? Or would that inhibit performance? Just a thought.

Thanks, Johann

BTW, would those 15, or maybe 14, inch wheels that come on base cars (the wheels that hub caps go on) fit over the z brakes?

I just thought of something else. Would those 5 spoke/5 lug wheels from the s14 fit my s13?

The 14" wheels will not fit over Z brakes AFAIK. You will have the same problem with FD wheels as I had also. You could use longer studs (Nismo has some I am pretty sure, kinda spendy) and a larger spacer. That would work I would assume. The S14 SE wheels fit over Z brakes, and you can find them for a relatively good price. You shouldn't have any clearance issues with those.

Are there any other options for longer wheels studs? I have seen the Nismo ones sell at $8 for 1 stud. That's $80 for studs in the front alone. I doubt I would need them in the back. Does anyone else make longer studs? What about those H & R spacers? Do those hurt the suspension in any way?

Thanks, Johann
