Rotaries are amazing technological beasts, however an engine life of only 70k miles (give or take) is not worth the money imo. Plus the 13b's had a couple design flaws, the biggest one I can think of atm would be mazda using vaccum lines for their turbos that were not attached, glued, clamped on in anyway. Easy as hell to blow off, simple a** fix you just have to put it back on, but one little unhooked vacuum line = an insane loss of power. I also agree a healthy running rotary...there's not a lot that can beat them. But considering the maintenance, work, time, money, and effort in getting one to run healthy, I again don't think its worth it imo. 93's also had a ****load of tsb's and recalls when they first came out.Lets compare price differences on say buying a 93 rx7, doing some tuning compared to buying a 91 240 and dropping an sr and doing some tuning:93 rx7 = 15,000 +/-fmic = 800-1,000intake = 200powerfc = 500downpipe, midpipe, catback = 1000 +total = 17,500 - 17,700this doesnt include any labor or tax or whatever from buying it and having them installed too.91 240 = anywhere from 500-3,000sr20det = 2600 (blacktop s13)nismo lsd = 950coilovers = 1,800brake conversions = 900 for a kit, less if you salvageintake = 200exhaust + downpipe = 1,500 (hks racing with cat replacement)total = 9,950 (if the 240 cost 2,000)that right there is already a pretty nice 240, and guess what? we still have another 7,000 or so to make it even better! you could tune it for drag, top speed, drift, whatever. I personally think it would be possible to beat an rx7, drag race....maybe not, but i think drag racing is gay and requires little skill, so I wouldn't even tune a 240 to do it (my opinion). The price thing is also another reason i sold my 93 rx7 R1 to get a 240 and do a swap. insurance was also insane for the r, plus i had a car payment so i said no. lol selling an rx7 for a 240....now that's a real nissan enthusiast!!!!!
