i would pray to geezus for a miracle, though most of my friends would say two hands working is better than a thousand clasped in prayer.

No. Buy a welder and learn. The end.

if that were the best option, he wouldn't be asking what to do in the first place. he would have just done it.

Some people need a push in the right direction. You can never go wrong buying tools and learning how to use them. Guaranteed a body shop would charge at least 500 to fix that. For that price you could go buy a half decent Hobart mig and give yourself a lifetime of experience. Slap some duct tape over it until you feel comfortable enough with the welder to lay down a weld on that thin sheet metal. Practice practice practice.

Welding is not hard and there is no advanced welder. Just some are a bit more complicated than others. A miller small wire feed welder is very easy to work with. To get a better weld and more confidence in yourself start with a argon mig and get a stronger weld. But practice practice practice.

Yeah, you're gonna have to cut it out and weld in a patch panel.

In response to your question in what is the best course of action....imho take it to a body shop, let them deal with it.
