When i first got my CA clip it had some nasty brown looking gunk all in it and the coolant was also severly discolored. I flushed it out and cleaned it as best i could and let it go at that. A little while ago my car was having a tendency to overheat if left to idle for too long. I checked the cooling system and sure enough, my fluid was looking very grungy and brownish again. I flushed it again and the overheating problem is gone but my concern is that this brown color is coming from rust. Hopefully it is just a rusty radiator...do you think it is possible that the inside of the engine could be rusting as well? Is there any sort of rust inhibitor specifically made for coolant systems that i could try out? Please give me some suggestions....this could be very bad for my baby :(

antifreeze contains a rust inhibitor in it, but there might be some additional stuff you could buy...my suggestion is flush the radiator afew more times...like once a week for awhile! Its cheap and easy, and see if that clears up your problem...you could just have a ton of crap in your radiator thats working its way out?

Yea..i figure some idiot ran straight water in it for some reason and then dumped it off in the junk yard or something like that. I'll continue to flush the coolant for now and hope things get better.

some idiot?well... things are alittle like that in japan, if you knew you would have to get rid of your car when it reached a certain mileage, wouldn't you just say "**** it" once it got close to that mielage?

antifreeze turns ornage/brown when it is dead...yes, antifreeze has a lifespan, it should have lasted longer than it appears that your did, but maybe you got a bad batch, just keep an eye on it, I'd bet that you won't have anymore problems with it,
