Rusty Frame

I was looking at a 1990 240sx and i looked at the frame and there was a bit of rust. It was only bout 6 inches or so of rust, but it rusted almost all the way through. It was at a car shop and the guy said that he would cut out the rust and put in a good piece. I know that 240s are prone to rust. Is it possible to get it cut out and still be pretty safe? He said he wanted about 1000 for it. The engine was super clean too. But there was some rust on the shock towers and the firewall. Would it be worth it to buy?

honestly, i would keep looking. the company that used to sell the frame rail sections quit selling them. they are practically non-existent. so your only bet is to find one in junk yard that has that particular part of the frame in good shape, and cut it out and have it welded back in on said car in question. so keep looking, there are 240's out there with no rust. i picked my current one up for a grand with no rust, and blown head gasket!
