Hey Guys ive of got a bit serious problem and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Ive got Tuner Lugnuts on my Enkei Rims. Unfortunately because they are opened ended they have rusted heavy.

I need to change my tires cuz, my car has got a ripped tire. But i cant change it because of the rusted lug.

I soaked them with PB Blaster thoroughly and managed to remove 3 of them. The last one has refuse to come off, I even broke 3...yes 3 adaptors. Im on my last adaptor and really need to change the tire. My car has been sitting for too long.

Is there anything i can do my self or do i need to call a pro. And if so who do i call to get this damn lug off. Please remember that the car has a flat tire, so i cant really roll to a wheel and tire store.Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Bro...bro..BRO! I went through this SAME thing in February when I purchased my 240. What I ended having to do was basically what you did. I sprayed wd 40 on each nut every night for a week then took it back to the shop. They were able to get 3 off and not the 4th and they broke the adapter in the process. Its an older style that I cant find anymore (9 spline) and I don't know what to do. Someone on a local forum said I could have someone tig weld something in there to try and get it out. I figured Id say my piece to get advice along with you as well, since we both have the same problem. Your lucky though, you can find your adapter.

drill bit.

drill the lug/stud out. my friend had to do this to 3 of his lugs/studs because he had the inverted "tuner" lugs.

poor quality, each lug was splined inside instead of outside. rusted to hell, then the splines stripped out so he had no way of taking off the wheels.

just drill 'em out and replace the studs and lugs when you get everything apart. itll be a lost easier than welding stuff to the lugnut, then itll probably just rip the end of the stud off and youll have to replace it anyway.

Makes sense. What cheap, good lug nuts would you recommend that will clear most wheels? I don't need any of those colorful fancy ones.

depends on what wheels.

id always suggest OEM because theyre good with resisting rust and whatnot.

otherwise, try to stick to as close as stock as possible. dont get fake "tuner" lugs with 7-9 splines as a lock for them. they break easily and cause more trouble than their worth. seeing how theyre like 20 bucks a set.

look around online at some of the sponsors sites, you can order a set of decent lugs for a good price.

GET ON IT.

Drill them out?Im not sure that will work. As i said ive got tuner lugs with the splines on the outside and they are open-ended so wont the drill simply hit the stud? Will it actually work to get the lug off?

Come on people, i know some one out there has the answer. My rims are too fresh to be welding anything, if i destroy my rims ill have to killmyself.

More info:My lugs are deep in the wheel, so i cant even fit a regular sized wrench in there, which is why the adaptor is needed. If i could get to the lug i would simply destroy th frikkin thing. Aww stupid low quality lug nuts make me sick.I need this wheel off ASAP. im getting bored just looking at my car.

he was saying to actually drill the stud as well. once you can get the wheel off, just replace the drilled out stud.

nooooooooo don't drill them out.

you'll be there for weeks.Go to sears, and get their 'stripped nut/lug extractor tools' They are special sockets designed for removing stubborn/stripped nuts. I have never had them not work for me.

try this. take the other three lugs you got off, and tighten them back on, very hard. this will relieve some of the pressure on the last one. then take a 6 inch 3/8ths extension, and put it on the stud inside the lug nut, whack it with a hammer a couple of times to try to break the lock the rust has created. then try again with the lug key. make sure to be using a breaker bar and socket, not a cross lug wrench (this will ensure you are keeping a good angle on the key, and not gonna break it off as easy). use a big cheater bar to increase torque on it. good luck. next time, use some kind of spline drive lug, so it covers the stud, and use some anti seize when installing lugnuts. gorrilla makes some nice ones, but seriously, as long as they have anti seize, and the lugs are free of rust already, you always start the lug by hand to ensure no cross threading, and you torque properly; you'll be fine with topline or some other less expensive brand.

Have you tried torching it to break out some of the rust? How deep are the bolts in there? Usually I can fit a long 19mm with a breaker bar and bust most bolts out.

it doesnt take weeks to drill out a stud. my friend did it in a couple days, just chillin in his driveway.

i still say you should just do that, depending on the amount of room youve got recessed into the rim to get to the lug, you wont be able to use one of those Mac Tools lug extractor or whatever things.

turn this thread into a poll, my vote is for drilling out the lug. it works.

Try to find the muteki key, the have the same pattern as the gorilla. I tried to use the gorilla key to remove my nut lugs, but after I took one off, the key started bending and wouldn't grip and cracked after several more tries. And my muteki key held up really good.Gorilla is like the crap you get from autozone or discount tires.

but srsly, the gorilla lugs are pretty crappy. another friend had those lugs for his enkeis he got with his MKIII VR6, we went through 3 keys before we got them all off. we kept going back to autozone to snatch extra keys from other gorilla sets.
