Has anyone discovered a inexpensive way to get rid of the rust on the brake rotor hub? I think all base model 2.5s have this problem because the hub should be covered by the hubcaps. Anyways if anyone has discovered a soloution please share it.

i used a medium steel wool and rubed lightly, not enough to damage anything.

i am pretty sure they rust cause they don't have a special paint on them and i believe the only ones without it are the 2.5 base models. All coupe that came with actual rims have the paint which is why theres are not rusty.

Actually this has nothing to do with the dealership.

Rust on the rotor hat is common on all vehicles, you can use brake caliper paint on them just be sure not to paint the area where the pads contact.

Iron and steel rust - it's a fact of nature. You just have to keep up with it.

I'm painting mine once spring comes. I can't wait to see how it will look.

Definatly, oddly enough my dad told me to do this LOL he hates it when i do stuff to my car, he thinks its a waste of money. So im trying not to overdue it and piss him off. Just little things.

Thanks for posting this. I bought a 2.5s sedan with only 14 miles on it, but it had sat at the lot in Omaha for some time. I put custom wheels on it two weeks later and the rusted hubs jumped right out. I was told by two separate body shops that the only solution that would hold up was to pull the hubs off the car and have them powder coated. The powder coating outfit is a week backlogged, so this is not likely.

When i get a chance i am going to borrow my friends jack stands and torque wrench and take the wheels off. Then just sand all the rust off the rotor and paint it with high temp paint. don't paint part that brake actually touches. There are numerous diy's if you search google.
