rust

ever since i bought my car about 7 months ago there has been some rust on the radiator support right near the battery probably caused by some battery acid that had spilt. i was wondering if i would be able to sand the rust off and if there were and products out there that would cover steel nicely and protect from rust coming back/spreading?

maybe if a mod could send this to the general forum i could get better results

good question. i know that krylon rust proof paint stuff doesnt work. thats all i got
