That's not good.
What year is the Q?
Take it back to the dealer that did the recall and see what they have to say.

Edit: I just went back to the wrecking yard this morning where they have close to 10 Pathfinders (R50's).
I checked them out, and all of them appear to be there because they were written off.
I'd say about a third of them had the repair done on them, and they still ended up at the junk yard because they failed/rusted in other areas (like yours).
I'd be curious to know if the owners of those previously repaired Pathfinders got any sort of compensation. We'll never know I guess.

well, here is the story on it. Its a 2002, with 140,000 miles on it. I just got done getting all that cut out, welded and repaired(2,300.00). Drives amazing right now. Only front end issue I have is the rotor on the driver side is not in great shape.. I need to let my wallet cool down a little bit before getting that taken care of. I will post pics of them once I get them from the shop

I have the exact same problem. 02 qx4 85,000 just bought it for my daughter. Is there any way to get this covered under the recall for the rusting in the strut area?

Call your local dealer to make sure the recall has been performed. Have the VIN ready.

My vehicle has had the recall performed on the drivers side the strut bracket is there. I now have the rust on the passenger side exactly as shown in the picture posted by nightwar. In my opinion, and I am sure Nissan may not share the same opinion is that this is a structural rust issue, not just a rust issue related to the strut housing. Again in my opinion this should be covered by Nissan. I will let you know how my discussions with the local dealership goes.

Just took it to the dealer today. The service tech told me there was nothing they could do. Then he told me to take it down the road to their collision shop to see if it coukd be welded. The manager was not in so I need to come back monday. Also going to look to frame repair specialists in the area. Anyone else weld their rusted qx4 frame?

I had the frame welded by FAB Weld in Rochester, NY. Mike the welder told me he has done hundreds of these. Charged me $300. Fixed the problem.

Cheap Solution!!!!
Thanks for sharing!

I would post this in the Recall Thread...might help those to look in the right direction when all goes awry in the dealership...

the rot on the first picture looks like its the front subframe, which can be replaced.
