rust prevention on turbo

just got back from a biusness trip, just got back to working on the car today. now my turbo has rust all over. whats the best way to remove the rust and prevent this from happening again?

It's cast iron... It's supposed to rust!

But yes, a ceramic coating, or jet hot, whatever will help.

i got header paint in silver and baked it in the oven and it stayed nice. havent ran it for long though. it was a temp turbo setup

so just let it rust? couldn't that eventually cause damage :confused:

Not for a very very long time, even here in the salt belt I don't have issues with my cast parts rusting out. Maybe in 20+ years.

Just ceramic coat it. It'll keep the heat in, under hood temps lower, no rust, and looks a lot better.

Any unpainted or uncoated cast iron will acquire surface rust. Its nothing to worry about although its not particularly attractive. The inner working parts of the turbo (and the engine) will go out long before the surface rust interferes with the operation of the turbo.
