Hello all,

As you can see below snapshot, I had a rust on my G35 trunk lid. The reason is that, when I close the trunk lid, it hits the tail lamp(it's definitely an assembly issue from the factory!). I checked it with a piece of paper tape on the tail lamp and a marker pen. But the problem is the dealer refused to fix this problem under warranty. What he saying is if I close the trunk door carefully, it would not hit the tail lamp so it's my fault. Do you think it makes sense? Several times of hit to the tail lamp should make the paint on the trunk peeled off!

mine were on the bottom pieces of the trunk the first time they touched it up. and the last time they wouldnt so i had to pay for it, it was under the lights where the rear bumper touched the rear quater panel and i had to pay for it to be re painted.

Seems like BS to me...I'd raise a stink at the dealership and get them to fix it.

Are you standing straight behind the car when you close it, or are you standing on the side of the car and closing it by the side edge?

I guess I'm the only one here that doesn't see any rust...

I guess it's time to visit the good ol' eye doctor eh?

It's very random. as others do, sometimes I stand just behind the car and push down the center of trunk door but sometimes stand on the side of the car. The dealer tested other brand new G37 in his shop and said it had same problem. So it's the problem for all G35 and G37 sedans.

Strange....

I have seen people close hoods from the side. Gives me the creeps. Too much of a chance for the hood to be pushed over to the side. Sorry you are having problems.

Actually, my previous vehicle was Hyundai Accent of which the price is around 15k. I closed the trunk door in the same manner during 5 years and there was no issue. For your information, I just bought this G35 last year.

I have a spot on my truck lid that rubs a part by the window and the rear passenger qt pannel and they dealer wouldn't fix it either

I hate how stuff like that they don't fix... It is the little things that piss me off about how the warranty works.

Well I would not say all. My 08 XS doesn't seem to have this particular issue, in fact seems like plenty of clearance in this area to keep this from occuring.

I would argue with them to have them fix it if it is hitting in this area, especially if it actually rusting.

Thanks everybody.I just want to ask you guys to check it hits the tail lamp or not when you close the trunk lid. Here is Canada. So cities use a plenty of salts to roads in winter. If it touches the tail lamp, at least you could see a damaged spot on your trunk lid even though there is no rust on it.
