Hello everyone,

Recently I found some stains of rust on the back door of my rogue 2013, which comes from behind the handle, and when I checked it carefully, I found the trace of a very very small rust which is extended from behind the handle.
I checked two other rogues 2012 and found the same rusts which were more extended.

Who knows how can I disassemble the handle to access its behind and remove the rust and paint it with touch up paint.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to NICO Club!

I like your get down to business and fix it approach. ;)

We have most Factory service manuals here:
http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/use-ni ... abase.html

Those typically have an interior section that shows how to remove panels, levers and such.

The FSM will have more info, but I had to do this with my Select at around 15k for the same reason. You'll need to remove the plastic cover on the inside of the lift gate to access the tabs to release the handle and trim section.

What causes this to happen is that there are two small pieces of rubber on the inside of the trim meant to keep the plastic from rubbing against the paint. Unfortunately they're far too small and get pushed out of position easily allowing the plastic to rub and vibrate against the paint until there isn't any clear coat left. You'll want to make sure to either put something back in place to keep them from rubbing, or do like I did and trim the plastic down so it can't rub any more to prevent it from happening again.

Thanks a lot for the manuals of Centralcoaster33 and for direct and helpful guides of Fantomlightning. I should do it this weekend.

I had the same problem with my 2011 SV 2 yrs after I bought it...dealer said that its a common problem with those Rogues. Did you buy the vehicle new? I think corrosion is covered under warranty for 5 yrs. I took mine to the dealer and they took it to a local body shop to get it fixed.
