so i bought this block from a guy i knew...it was out from a wrecked s13...i tore the block down a few days ago and i found what looks to be rust on the cyclider walls...but the walls feel smooth like butter and you can't barely feel a lip on the wall...here is a pic

safe after boring it out? what if the rust is still visual? i'm planning on 500+ hp and 450+ torque

I would say go ahead and machine it down a little (recommended anyway) and you should be good to go. Since you say the walls still feel smooth, and not pitted it should only be surface rust that has started in little scratches in the walls...if you machine it and keep it oiled then there shouldnt be any problems...It looks like it was caused by just sitting out .. you should be sure to check the rest of the block very well first though..ie bearing seats, gasket surfaces...IMHO I would look into a hottank to be sure it is all clean.

hope this helps ya.

yeah, the block is cast iron, which rusts very easilly, think about what happens when you leave a screw outside

you should probobly just have it redone at a place that does blocks, i would say thats your best bet
