I've got a rust issue ( yes I searched this ) on the front end of my s14. It appears as though some rock chips in the hood have given way to rust. That's not too big an issue because I'm going carbon with that one day. However, the fenders have a couple similar rock chips that have little rust spots.

Now I have every intention of doing a rattle can in my drive way and flat blacking my car, but I need to know how to take that rust out. From what the general consensus is of people I've asked is that I can simply sand it down if its surface rust and primer it.

Does anyone ( prefferably a body professional ) know of the best DIY way to remove this rust? Short of cutting and welding?

sand it away, then paint. there is also a jelly found at your local paint supplier that disolves the rust, then you need to clean it, and paint it again. sanding down to clean metal is an easier and more effective way.

After you sand or grind the rust down you'll need to apply a filler of some type to the spot to replace the metal you removed. You can buy bondo at WalMart or if you find a local body shop supply store - you should go there and just ask them what they recommend. Usually they are pretty helpful and can give you a product that works well and is easy to use.
