i'm really dumbfounded by my problem, and i've read other searches but mine just don't seem to match...ok well this started after my trip back from the beach. It reached a point where when i step on the gas to accelerate quickly, all the car does is feel like its stumbling, like its trying to accelerate, instead the rpms start going down and it sounds like its going to die. I have to let my foot off the gas and go again real lightly just so it can accelerate, and even so it will not let me accelerate past about 4000rpms...getting out of first gear from a stop it always stumbles i have to keep reapplying the gas until it catches then let my clutch go or else it dies..if i have my clutch in i can rev it up real high, but i have to play with it until it again catches.. does anyone have any idea what my problem is??? i have a 1992 240sx KA24DE with just exhaust and intake..thanks

I say check your mass air flow sensor. If you can find another one that you know works, swap them out and see if that fixes the problem.

When was the last time you had your clutch replaced?

The problem your having is a faulty Mass Air Flow Sensor or MAF as it is called. They are about the only common problem on our cars aside from the timing chain guide thing. Try running some electrical cleaner thru it and see if that helps. If not then it needs replacing. Best bet would be here on NICO or Ebay. The only store that sells one is the dealer and they are over $400 so please look elsewhere.

Sound sliek either the MAFS, Fuel filter clogged, OR have a big vaccum leak on your brake master cylinder line. I've had experiences with all of them and they are the very similiar.

Improper grounding is also a common issue and has those same symptoms. Maybe a screw came loose that holds down one of your grounding wires? It's happened to me so I know it's possible :-)
