before I even start yes I searched...

This all started when fluid started leaking out of the seals at the end of the rack near where the tie rod connects. Finally it lost enough fluid that the pump burned up, despite my best efforts to keep it full. So I've been running without power steering for a while now and I like it pretty well actually, exept that theres an awful lot of play in the steering wheel on center, I'm wondering if this is normal for running without ps or if its because I still have the pump connected or if the rack is just worn out. Has anyone else had this problem? Is my rack screwed? thanks

I took the power steering pump off my circle track car and run rubber hoses from the rack to the ps fluid can. Its got some play in it.

i dont have any play in my steering wheel on center.i changed the ps rack recently though.my old rack didnt have any play either, but it was shot to hell.

The play in the rack I'd say the rack is toasted golden brown with some butter on top aka perfectly toasted.

lol, your a regular comedian! seriously, i found that strangely funny but oh so true!

getting back to giving advice. if you have a p/s rack that is not blown to smithereens.you can convert it to a non p/s rack by removing the p/s pump, hard lines, and cooler lines to the rack and installing a loop in the inlet and outlet into the rack with a breather/ reservoir to keep the rack from drying up.honda guys have been doing that a while now for road racing the cheap way.

i have no ps and drift just fine..sharp angles are a lil harder, u just have to be prepared for it. IMO you get a lot better road feel with no ps

I ahve been very interested in finding a manual rack conversion. That would make it alot easier because of the ratio in a non ps rack. IDk if one exists though, but i keep looking
