I dont want to have to worry about my car overheating because of the thermostat sticking,I also bought a supposed fail safe one but i would really just like to run it without a thermostat.I was wondering if anyone has experience with this and knows what the disadvantages might be.Thanks

running without a thermostat will make it where your car takes forever to warm up, and will probably cause it to run cold on the freeway and all. thats not good for your car

just put an oem thermo in, if its installed correctly you should not have anyproblem with overheating

why do you think my thermostat just suddenly broke down after doing an engine flush with prestone flush and distilled water?

u can run no thermostat but like someone said it takes a very long time to warm up, but what u can do is put like a washer (a big one) to make the hole smaller, this will cuz some fluid to slow down due to the blocking and let the car warm up a lil quicker.

just take the mechanical part from the old one and put that ***** back. I have ran without on for over a year, and if I were not so lazy I would have redone mine. It takes about 15~30 minutes to warm fully pepending on the day(if hot out I can cut on my efan to get the hot air flowing over my radiator for a little bit faster warm up). But will say that it will not keep you from overheating. The increase in flow is not as important as the psi build in the block from the t.stat. Psi keep the boiling point up higher then normal.

The Stant Superstat thermostat sticks open when it fails, as opposed to cheaper ones that stick closed. I know they can be found at Advance Auto for $6-$7. I run one myself.

maybe when you flushed the system some of the junk you were flushing out got built up on the thermostat. personally I would have just paid a shop to do a pressurised flush. I had that done on my 240 and they stuff that they were sucking out of my coolant system was disgusting looking. oh and my thermo never went bad after they did this....
