Had to drive the car to work today, no choice. It's 9 miles one way, so I put about 20 miles on the car today.
Burned a quarter of a tank just going that far. Car has NO power. Does not like going up hills.... can't go over 3000 rpms. Won't boost past 5 psi.... just runs like crap in general.
Pulled my two day old plugs.... BLACK, yikes! O2 sensor, about the same shape.
So here is my thinking..... if the o2 sensor is caked up that bad, it would read the exhaust mixture as lean and then tell that to the ECU. The ECU would then in turn, just start dumping fuel into the motor to richen it up, but it is in fact just killing my spark plugs and wasting gas. I can smell the fuel out of the exhaust, and there is a really cool "racing black spot" on my rear bumper now from the exhaust. Am I correct in assuming that?
Also..... I don't have the FSM right in front of me, so be easy on me Jon
GRRRRRR..... going to get some sleep now. Long day tomorrow..... Change o2 sensor, new plugs (again), set idle, REset timing, and try and front mount my SMIC, it is so ghetto'd into the fenderwell that I know it can't be working too well, and try and see if I have a boost leak somewhere.... I think the gasket on the turbo outlet flange may be leaking. The turbo is making a pffffft noise when boosting, like a leak.
Any other suggestions just short of dropping a grenade in the number one cylinder?
Joe
