Im very sorry to whore up this forum but my car has been parked for about a year and a half and it's finally getting safetied (a mechanic looks it over to check to see if it's road worthy before you can insure it up here in Canada) and Im trying to make sure it's going to run smoothly. I was told if im running rich that it's probably because ive got a boost leak. Well, after checking the following:

- O2 Sensor- O2 Sensor wiring- All vacuum lines and connections- Where parts meet up (and gaskets)

Everything is fine. I do have a blow off valve that is venting into the atmosphere and I know alot of you are going to say thats my problem right there. Well, without removing it, is there anything I can do to fix this problem? I was going to up my boost from 7psi to about 9psi or even 10. I was wondering if you would say 'yay' or 'nay'.... Keeping in mind, ive only driven around the block about 20 times since ive got this engine and ive cleaned the spark plugs about twice already cause they keep getting seriously coated in carbon.

Thanks for your responses!

Do you have a non stock turbo? Because i was in the same boat when my silvia was in storage. I would start it randomly while it was in storage but as soon as i started drivin it as a daily the "richness" went away. However i also installed a t28 while it was in storage.

Eventually i got the air/fuel mixture ajusted by chipping the ecu and everything got better from there. Good luck.

If you have the money, buy a Air/Fuel gauge along with an SAFC.You'll be able to get accurate readings from them and go from there.I hear that a boost leak causes your car to run lean, not rich. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Try looking at your intercooler. If the couplings are good, you may have a crack in the intercooler itself. Check the PVC valve as well. Try and hook up recirculating lines for your BOV. Hope this helps!

It's the stock T25. The car isnt being daily driven yet and I have some crap gas in there. I will assume it will go away once I fill it up with premium and drive it daily

I also bought a Safc2 but now I cant find that either (ARGH!!!)

As for the crack in the intercooler, I will have to take a closer look at that. And for the BOV, I have 2 vacuum lines running off of it but only have 1 hooked up. I dont know where the other should go to. It's a Greddy Type S bov but I only have the top line hooked up.

Unless its a wideband A/F gauge its useless. I guess the pretty lights are cool though. A properly tuned car will read "rich" according to those narrowband A/F gauges.

It's no wideband. It's just a stock O2 sensor with an autometer a/f gauge hooked up to it. I do own a SAFC2 and will hook that up the second I find it.

How would I setup a wideband anywho?

Does it run rich only in boost?

**I had a greddy type-s and the spring went bad. everytime i went into boost, the valve would open some and cause the car to loose power/run rich. Have you tried adjusting the type-s.?I couldn't figure it out, cause all my vacuum lines were new, after i changed to hks ssqv solved problem.

P.S. the bottom port is supose to be left alone( not hooked up) unless ur gonna do some mod, like i did.

DJ, I was hoping you guys wouldn't bring this silly subject up again, when it's posted in a stick "Do not complain about driveability issues if you're atmospherically venting your BOV. Everytime you change gears to listen to your bov, you're pissing your computer off and it's going to show you just how it can piss you back off. Just don't rev the engine and change gears just to distinctively hear your BOV. Change gears and keep going through your rpm band or just remove the BOV for now as it was intended from the factory. If you are still have problems, contact float or myself and we'll discuss this behind the scene.
