Does anybody have any suggestions on the best way to get the sensor wires in the cabin? I tried to use a wire hanger to try and get it through close to the emergency brake, but I did not have much luck. I appreciate any suggestions.
Hi gc444... I was hoping someone who's run the wire before would jump in but since the weekend is slipping away I thought I'd see if I could help. Hope this isn't to late.
Actually (in this case) these instructions for running a wire from your engine compartment to the passenger compartment isn't specific to the temperature probe. It could be to run a wire into the cabin for any project. The only trick is running the wire through the firewall with damaging the integrity of the interior cabin.
Thanks to RedVenom for the idea, instructions and pictures. (I simply added some text to them.)
Locate the large rubber grommet on the drivers side of the firewall. Its located behind the air box.
Use a screwdriver to work the grommet over enough to allow you to slip a coat hanger in behind it. Be careful not to damage the grommet or stab any wires with your screw driver.
In the engine compartment, wrap a couple twist of the temperature probe wire around the coat hanger then securely tape it to the hanger. (I usually use electrical tape for these projects) . The go inside the cabin and pull the wire thru to the cabin. Bingo... you're home free!
