Turn the fan on, turn of recirculation, turn the temperature down all the way, change the mode to anything that doesn't include the front defrost, cycle the A/C switch on and back off.
Turning it down all the way will make sure the air doesn't pass through the heater core.
Turn off recirculation will help bring outside air in, so the interior humidity won't be too high. In humid or rainy conditions, your interior will fog up if you don't run the compressor and use a defrost mode with a higher fan setting, so just be aware.
The A/C compressor will come on whenever any front defrost is selected to help dehumidify. So you need to be in a different mode such as face. If you do defrost or defrost-foot mix, the compressor will run automatically.
Cycling the A/C switch on and off will make sure it's not on from a previous setting. When you change modes such as out of defrost, sometimes the compressor will stay on. Doing this will make sure it's not on. If you change modes and go through any front defrost setting, you should do this again.
