I just finished my swap a couple days ago(ca18det) and it started up fine but is running extremely rich. It stumbles and lets out a horrible fuel smell. It also has a large amount of black smoke comind out of the turbo manifold(no exhaust on it yet). I just replaced the plugs with ngk platinums.Anyone have any ideas? Also i was wondering if anyone knows how to run the self-diagnosis test with the ecu. Thanks.

Did you check your MAF and O2 sensor?

How do i check the MAF. Do i make sure it looks clean? I was thinking o2 sensor. That is what im about to check. I ran the self diagnosis on the ECU and it gave me 5 red flashes followed by 5 green flashes but i dont know what that means

I think I may have found my problem. I got the ECU code 34 which means my knock sensor is bad. Im going to replace it tonight and see if it helps.I checked the o2 sensor and it was fine so i hope that this is my problem.

It will cause the ECU to make the CAS to retard the timing.

Well i really cant explain how i went from code 55 to code 34, but my guess is that i didnt run the car the first time and i did the second time. Maybe the car warming up made a difference with the ecu reading. Also, when the ecu detects a knock sensor malfunction it goes into "limp" mode to prevent damage to the engine. This should explain why im running rich. Anyone know where i can get a knock sensor for the ca18? The only one i found is from the nissan dealer and its like 175 dollars plus shipping.
