My 1992 240sx with a KA24DE is running very rich. black clouds of smoke comes out of the exhaust when i step on the gas. the engine shakes while idling at any certain speeds.

when my fuel tank is almost dry, the car will run smooth, but when i gas it hard it will stall cause of low gas.

ive tested 2 different engines, and two different mafs sensors. and still the same thing is happening. so i dont think it is the engine itself. i am really stumped on this and still think it might be the mafs cause i wasnt sure if the one i tested works.

anyways please give me some advice of how to approach this problem

thnx.

The problem can be one of the following:- leaking fuel injectors- bad temperature sensor for the ECU- bad fuel regulator- bad MAF

my car just isnt running a little rich, its running ALOT more rich than it should. one time i floored it and all the black smoke filled my entire street!

it makes the engine shake side to side very hard too.

once i disconnect the mafs it runs smooth. so i dunno if its my mafs thats causing all this.

my car is runnig rich too, i have a 1990 240sx, i've had de feeling of the car getting some loss of power ,then last month i had a leak on the exahust manifold due a blow gasket and replaced but i noticed the O2 sensor wire was broken but the car was runing kinda normal, then my fuel pump just died. so i switch to the walbro fuel pump (255) and the car was running great and then the crappy gas milage started, then the black smoke and the gas smell, last wed. i was going for a lunche break and the car didn't start, but a lot of the gas smell, so i took the fuel pump fuse and the car started rigth up, could it be the O2 sensor, or FRP? please help i need ideas

Above was my previous reply but before you start replacing components, do an ECU code readout to look for possible fault codes that may help you to pinpoint the problem.
