running out of gas at quarter tank...???

I've had this issue for about a month now. when I reach quarter tank the car runs out of gas. I know its not the gauge. I was able to get to a gas station when the car began to bog out. it only took 12.5 gallons to fill it up. I've been able to fill up as much as 15.8 gallons before. any ideas to what it could be? any help would be awesome.

Either its a little wiring gremlin. Or its just a rare faulty gauge? Go pull one from another s13 and see. The fuel pump assembly is pretty fragile.

my gauge will only go up to 3/4 of a tank lol. maybe the fuel pump sock piece came off your fuel pump?

The floater that is in your tank could have gone bad. If I can recall right when you remove the fuel pump. The floater comes with it. You can check if the contacts are missing or broken.

I've removed my fuel pump and it seems to be fine there are no broken pieces to be found. when i fill up the gauge goes to full. so i dont think it really the gauge.

So Then the moral of the story is dont drive below half tank sorry had to...

If you can fill up 2.x gallons... the float would be to blame. I think a squirrel crawled in your tank

Its the floater in the gas tank. Remove it and manually move the floater all the way down to see if it gets stuck/caught somewhere.

Had a similar probably with my S14 and bought a new one.

from F to E, mine only takes 10 gallons. I'm sure the other 5 gallons are in there somewhere, but it sure makes figuring out gas money easy.

I found a fuel pump assy for 20 bucks so i will try that out.
