Just put my KA24DET back to stock, after burning a valve at the track ! New head w 3 angle and new valves, kept 264 cams in, 8.5-1 pistons, stock ECU, 3"exhaust. My only problem right now is at Part or Wide open throttle under load, my wide band goes off the chart lean. The car actually hesitates a little and gives a very slight surge. I can also see the tach jump just a little bit when it does this. Power is sluggish at 3000 RPM and up, not as powerfull as stock should be.

Fuel pressure is @ 38 psi idle, and 43 psi under load. Good spark, and plugs are brand new 6 series NGK. Anyone have any ideas what would be causing this lean condition under load ??

Thanks,D

how are you tuned electronicly?...stand alone?..saf-C?..what are you using to controll your A/F mixture ?

to me this seems like you have a hole in your map...im no big expert on tuning..infact its one of the things i know little about...but it is definit you need some way of controlling your topend better or tuning your ecu for it.

Sorry for the misunderstanding !! I dont have my turbo or anything on my car right now, took it all off after my head rebuild. It is back to bone stock except for cams, pistons, and exhaust. Stock ECU is in place with everything else . Idle quality is pretty good considering my cam profile. Just WOT that is bad, so lean I don't know where it is on the wideband. I do have an AEM EMS 1611 for my Turbo setup, and was thinking about throwing that in with a base map for N/A setup. Maybe I can richen the pulse with it that way and se what happens.

I did have a MAF code stored in the ECU when I checked yesterday as well. But I think I may have unplugged it at one time and cranked the engine over. Maybe a dirty injector from sitting for 6 months ?? If anyone has any ideas, let me know.

Thanks

dude..use the AEM and just tune N/A with it....im not shure as im no expert..but if you can legthen your pulse at top end..you can solve the starvation issue..keep us posted.

That is the problem, I am a certified mechanic, and have no clue how to write a fuel map. I also hear that the base maps for the AEM a garbage and cars hardly ever run on them. Is there someone that has a good running base map for the AEM on the 240 ?? I hate to have this standalone sitting around if I can put it to good use.

Just came up with a O2 sensor heater circuit code today. Reading on my scanner looks ok though, as it is switching often between .010 and .859.If anyone can help me with this AEM map i'd be willing to throw a few bucks their way for a running map.

Thanks allD

aem makes a nice system...but..it is stand alone and complicated...in my opinion...the greddy E-Manage is probly the easyest to use..as it uses the OEM cpu as the base map...piggybacking has its advantages..allthou its not as powerfull as a standalone...it will suit most tuners just fine to squeeze out that extra hp..you can probly ebay your aem and buy the emanage ultamate with change to spare for a sparco seat or sumpin..good luck man.
