Ok I've got my car running finally. But now it wont rev past 2500 rpm. Ok thats simple theres a problem with the MAF somewhere. But I cant figure out where, I'm wondering though, when using a z32 MAF is it absolutly nessecary to get the retune? I mean I have a s13 blacktop all stock. I think my problem lies in the wiring, and I've looked for info on this beofre but couldnt find much..The z32 MAF plug comes with four wires, one signal to ecu, 2 ground, and the others is 12vAC. but the harness only has one ground. Now i tried just leaving one of the grounds out. The engine would sputter and eventually die out, BUT it would rev past 2500rpm. And it would do the same when I put the two grounds together with the ground from the harness. So before this starts making any less sense if anyone has any ideas I'd appreaciate it! thanks!

nope...you need either the ECU-re-tune or buy a used SAFC2 on ebay and you should be good after that. The Z32 MAFS sends a different signal to your ECU and the ECU can't recognize without being fooled (SAFC2) or being re-tuned (ROM tune).

It would be cheaper and probably quicker to just get an SAFC2. ECU ROM-tunes and your looking at sending your ECU away. It's kind of pointless to do any ECU ROM tuning until/unless you have some serious mods done to the car....Otherwise like I implied before it's kind of a waste to get your ECU ROM-tuned for just a Z32 MAFS....You could just rewire a SOHC MAFS and be done with it.....It's kinda pointless to be running a Z32 MAFS if you don't have any other mods, so you won't be missing anything. Just save it for later.

Yeah dude, she ran right after i put that maf on. Now I've got a mystery noise. I've been told it could be spark knock? Anyone ever dealt with that before? It only seems to make the sound when its revving up and no other time..
