So in addition to the strut tower issue I have the rusted out running boards. Bottom line is I HATE running boards and took them off but the parts just behind the front wheels and just in front of the rear wheels look weird. Also no way to mount splash shields on front now.
Assuming my QX4 can be fixed by dealer has anyone come up with a way to make it look more complete without using the boards? Would LOVE some ideas on this.
I do have some light rust in the rear fenders under the lip moldings and have already got someone on tap to weld in new sheet metal and rustproof so I can have a long lasting truck. Other than these issues I have a truly mint condition QX4. I love the size and ride, love it's a true truck chassis and 4WD.
I just sure hope that either A. the recall properly fixes the strut issue or B. it's so bad they buy it from me though this would kind of disappoint me.
Also at 115k and a 1998 it is on original timing belt. How bad of a job is this? I recently did my 4 cyl. Camry (though would not care to do it again). Any comparisons?
Thanks all! from a new member.

I have the same issue with my boards. Since you have a welder on tap, you can, if you still have the brackets repair them with square tubing. That's my plan next week. Mine is in for the strut and airbag recalls now. Strut repair brackets are on back order so I'm stuck without it for now but I will try to post pics of how I fix my boards.

Actually I am more interested in ideas of eliminating the boards and giving the flares a "finished" look. I really hate running boards on a vehicle this size
