i sell aviation fuel here in canada.....can i run av100LL in my car?

its a "low lead" 100 octane fuel

will it perform any better? will it wreck the engine? if so how?

I don't think it will hurt your engine, but it probably won't doany good either. A higher octane rating does not mean it hasa higher energy content, just better anti-knock properties.

Doesn't lead destroy catalytic converters?

lead does destroy cataylitic converters. but that fuel will destroy your engine very quickly. it will essentially melt down your engine.

Years ago a neighbor of mine got approximately 10 gallons of avgas from us we were hauling it to local airports from chevron in richmond california[ the thrills of being in a tanker truck] those of you who smoke check your mirrors before you chuck that cigarette out the window huh. if that tank blows your done too.

any how he lasted exactly 14 laps before his engine melted down. I dont think its the octane of the fuel so much as its burning properties[additives]. I wouldnt recommend you do it.

I had a friend running av gas in fully built WaveRunner motors. He had problems with it melting the fuel tanks and lines.

avgas is made for low rpm airplane motors. this is not good for high rpm car motors. use high octane auto fuel not avgas.

Forgive me for being sceptical of these horror stories about avgas. There is very little difference between avgas and car gas.A small amount of lead to boost octane rating and an additive to lessen the chance of vapor lock.

Aircraft engines are basically '50s technology. There is nothing special about the fuel tanks or lines or the engines themselves. Many aircraft engines run either avgas or auto fuel.

ok, avgas has additives so that the motor will run good at high altitudes and very low temperatures.

also, low lead avgas has just as much lead as leaded auto fuel used to contain.

avgas in a car will destroy the oxygen sensors, ruin the catalytic converter. also, the mixture for avgas is different than auto fuel. the a/f ratio will be off, so if the ECU isnt tuned for it, you may risk blowing the motor up if used continuously.
