Whats up. Just got this 240 for a straight trade with my old 97 ford pickup. Its my first 240 and im already loving the **** out of it. It has wheels and a custom exhaust. anyways im wanting to make the car a little faster without slapping a turbo on it. I was thinking new headers and exhaust all the way, Apexi or something. A new s13 cam and a wet 50 shot of nitrous from Holley.

the only thing is im worried about the nitrous kit on a non-turbo engine. The engine has had some "upgrades" but nothing real performance wise. I just want to know if i can do it, how do i tune it and look out for the no no's.

Usually guys who run nitrous don't run turbo... search around, this subject has been covered lots in the past - it's about the same car -> car too, so you can even search other forums/googles/etc - just search for things like "how to tune with nitrous" or whatever.

As for fuel management options (to use in relation with your tune), just check out the ka24de & ka24det subsections on here - the stickies cover this. Tuning may be done slightly differently, but the equipment used to tune is the same.

on a side note, if you ever wanna have some fun at a track day or autocross. nitrous is not allowed and must be disconnected and removed.

If i am not mistaken, does a wet kit not come with a fuel/nitrous nozzle?

just retard the timing a bit, and run colder plugs.

Im a turbo guy, so nitrous is ehh

get yourself a timing light (rent/buy/borrow) and retime it. find out what the stock is and bring it back about 3-4 degrees.

Personally a NOS Brand kit is around 500+ install (since your not real sure how to time your own car i'd leave a nitrous install to someone else) so your gonna spend i'd bet $750. if you do some searching and save another $500 you could make a homemade turbo setup and have a local NICOnaut or someone help you out. Cause don't forget nitrous gets expensive if your always on the bottle at 40-60 bucks a crack to fill a 10lbs bottle it adds up. Plus you have to wait for it to get warm to build up good bottle pressure to make it worth your squeeze.

But best of luck on your project

The idea of a wet kit is that it adds it own fuel to go with the nitrous. (nitrous oxide hint oxide as in oxygen) that is what nitrous is an oxygen adder. So if you add more oxygen or air then you have to add more fuel so you don’t go lean. That is the Advantage of a wet kit over a dry kit is that wet gives its own fuel so the stock fuel system is not over taped and you don’t go lean and make expensive noises. So in my opinion go with the wet kit get an air/fuel ratio gauge and make sure you don’t go to lean. Retard the timing a little colder plugs could not hurt but remember with the timing retard and colder plugs you will be losing a little power when your off the nos.

nitrous wet kit is very easy to install and 50 shot wont damage your engine unless you have broken seals or rings .. check first for leaks in your car, second check the compresion of each piston , and if everyting is good , time belt is good, use it.. but dont abuse it.. !! lol......check your nitrous wet kit..usually they will come with everything but some wont.. i have it on my eclipse with 75 shot and no prob..

I experimented with Nos in early 01 , just run 2 steps colder spark plugs and retard your timming 5 deg or so. ( make sure you verify with a compresion test and leak down to confirm a healthy engine) But if your like me the 50 hp jets wont last long i moved up to 75 , 100 , and catastrophic failure at 125!
