I know that I only fill with Chevron...specifically because they don't use ethanol. I have seen the signs at other gas stations.

Ethanol is required by law in some areas, so I'm sure Chevron gas has it too. They probably don't have a sticker yet.

Has anyone used "104+ octane booster" made by Heet? My G is running fine now on 87, just a little more sluggish. I guess the computer has adjusted to the lower octane. Will octane booster just confuse the car?

I did some research on octane boosters. Most of them use Toulene (which is already in gas) or some other aromatic or alcohol.

It's important to use the ones designed for "Street Use" because the others may be harmful to your Cats among other things.

The boosters will likely help in low octane gas more so than in premium. The reason being is that the Premium may have some of the ingredients that the octane booster already has and there is a fine line between improving octane, then going overboard and slowing the fuel burn down to a crawl (to the point where the exhaust is still completing a slow burn as it exits the cylinder).

A close friend of mine is a state inspector for the People's Republic of Massachusetts, he works for Weights & Measures. One of their tasks is to measure octane and to make sure gas pumps actually pump a gallon. He tells me that since the onset of ethanol, the octane ratings have increased by 1.5 to 2.0. That means that if you pump a mid-grade that's listed at 89, the true octane is really 90.5 to 91. I run my 07 on 93 octane, but my wife's gets mostly mid-grade with little or no noticeable difference in performance. As far as a fuel injection cleaner, I've used Chevron's Techron for over 5 years and it's the best stuff on the market, IMHO. I noticed many fleets use it years ago and I can usually notice the performance change within 1/2 a tank. Not a big change, mind you, but more than some of the others I've used. I add a 20 gal bottle every 5000 miles.

The octane booster I bought said something about "does not contain [XYZ]", XYZ being whatever was in the 108+ racing octane booster (I'll look at the bottle again when I get a chance to see what it is).

After re-reading the thread I think it's best to skip the octane booster. I'll just drive minimally until premium gas returns to Atlanta (with a 5 mile one way commute that's easy).

BP gas is not "top tier gas": http://www.toptiergas.com/

I stick to QT (quik trip) since the stations are new, price is reasonable, and very high turnover.

I notice my Q45 runs better with Techron *in the tank*, but impact after that is minimal. BG 44K injector cleaner (around $20, at dealers or repair shops only) is a much more concentrated version of the same formula in Techron.

Nothing beats a professional injector cleaning if your car has 50K+ miles (special cleaner fed directly into fuel rail, also a BG product).
