runnin components off deck?

i've been havin some stupid amp issues where the amp doesn't work properly until it warms up after about 10 minutes of playin... balance is wayyy off to the right, and sound is kinda distorted, and i have to set the balance on the deck to the left by 7/15 levels... so it just sucks

thinkin of just takin the amp out altogether and gettin it looked at, but i don't really have money at the moment and buyin a new amp is the last thing on my list to do... my deck does have an internal 50x4 mosfet amp, would it be safe for me to run my 3 way components off of the 18W RMS it puts out?

Yeah it's safe, just don't crank it TOO loud, or else you clip and blow them.

ya i won't be crankin em that's for sure... i've never not had an amp hooked up to them, so what should i expect from downgrading to just deck power? will i be disspointed? or will it satisfy my needs? :pface

With 18 watts, you surely won't be getting much bass response at all out of your larger component speakers, but the tweeters should do fine. They won't be quite as clear, but nothing to complain about.

4's should sound ok too eh? they're crossed over at like 300hz or somethin like that, as long as my 4's and tweets sound good that's all i care about, bass is cool but i can handle not having it as long as i got clear midrange/vocals

well i am now runnin my components off my deck until i get my amp checked out, or buy a new one... biggest difference is obviously distortion at levels far below the potential of the speakers, but also the clarity & impact of the music just isn't there with 18W RMS... the difference between deck power and an external amp pushing 100W rms is just amazing...
