runing the water pump off the alternator?(KA24DE)

Information on the naturally-aspirated KA24E and KA24DE engines.

is their away i can do this, i herd some 510 guys talking about somthing about a nissan hardbody Alt. bracket, that lines the Alt. pully up with the water pump pully. or is their a way to runn the water pump off the main crank pully?thanks.

and dose anyone know how much gear oil 91 transmission (5 speed) holds QTs?thanks agine

iirc it holds like 3.something quarts, but you never get out all of it when you drain it, when i changed mine it would only allow like 2.something quarts to be put it. but just buy 4 quarts, nothing wrong with having some left over.

Your water pump should already run off of the crank pully, on the serpentine belt, along with the power steering. The alternator is already on a seperate belt. The a/c is also a seperate belt.

yeah i know that the water pump runs off the PSpump, i dont have P/S so i was trying to run the water pump off of somthing eles, b/c i didnt want to have the PS pump their if i didnt need it, but thanks

the ps pump runs off its own belt entirely. The water pump and alternator have their own belt to the crank pulley. So you can delete ps without any mods to spin your water pump. Just take a look.

on the DE the water pump is ran off the PS pump and the mian crank pully,

Worst case is you make a bracket to hang the old AC belt tensioner on and run the water pump belt off of it. I looked at this today on the DE I have on the engine stand and I don't really see and easy way to do what you want.

I just took a look at the fsm and your right. Looks like you could possibly use a different pulley for the water pump, to align it with the alternator belt. That or something like you heard, a new alt bracket to move it out to the water pump belt. Im not sure which brackets work with the 240sx de. If you heard hardbody works id try some of those parts first, Z24 hardbody bracket would be out of the question i would think. The sohc ka truck bracket is same as sohc 240sx bracket. There was never a dohc hardbody but the frontiers that use the dohc ka have same bracket and front cover design as sohc.

ehh yeah i got tired f not driving my car so i jsut put the PS pump back on and did it the factory way, ill try and figure it out by the tim i get my next motor in
