In my 97 Q45 im considering running the PFR6G-11 VS the 5G-11.I live in Phoenix so its not cold enough or humid enough to cause a problem, anyone have any experience or input on this?

Are you having any problems with the standard plug? What is the upside to the change? I've had fouling problems with colder plugs in other cars.

well in the summer here in Phx its so Fing hot the car is kinda sluggish i just figured the colder plug may help a little bit. I did speak with a very knowledable NGK Engineer about it he told me as a general rule a cold plug can increase power but of course theres alot of variables that can affect that. I run a BKR7E in my turbocharged SE-R and its a bit skidish in the winter til its warmed up but in the summer i cant run anything hotter or i get signs of detonation on the plugs. Anyhow i guess i was looking for someone to say "yes i did that and had no problems" Or "No dont do it cause i had problems"....<shrug>. I heard that the reason that Nissan switched to the hotter plugs(5 range) was cause of the problems with moving them around on carlots...IE start it cold move it ten feet let it sit overnight then it sputters like hell the next time you start it.

Hey, give it a go. It is only one heat range cooler, so you shouldn't experience any adverse affects. The worse you could get is a bit rough when the engine is cold, & the best, a longer plug life. Let us know what it goes like...

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I replaced the plugs lastnight with PFR6G-11's three of the orginal plugs were kinda fouled with crap...Im not sure but if i had to guess id say these were the original plugs. I bought the car with 77k miles, It has 93K on it now...My first impression is the car sure started faster:). I did a power balance before and after with the ConsultII.Before:1:163 2:146 3:147 4:138 5:137 6:144 7:162 8:136After: with PFR6G-111:147 2:140 3:146 4:149 5:151 6:145 7:154 8:155

All in all the car is more responsive and seems to shift smoother...But i think even the 5G11's would do that considering the condition of the original plugs.

UPDATE: the PFRG6-11 plugs seem to be working great. I got 380 miles on 17.5gallons. My previous best was 340 on the same. And this tank seems to be heading like it will be a bit more.FYI 90% driving is freeway.

Glad to hear the colder plugs are working well. With mostly freeway usage, it sounds like a good fit. If those were indeed the original plugs, you can't hardly help but have improved performance. I've just changed plugs because it was time and could never tell any difference.

I agree even NGK Plats cant last forever:). 93K was probably a bit much even for them.
