92 240sx. Has a stock KA24DE engine. Turn the key to start, turns over, starts to start, then after a second, stops running. This happens 10 to 15 times. Then will start. But runs like crap till it warms up. What do I need to look at. Don't say a new car.

Check your spark plugs, wires, Cap. Then start looking at fuel system, Compression numbers.

Put new plugs in. Ran worse. Put the old one back in. Wires are good Put a new fuel filter in. I did check the flow of the filter before installing. Cap is about a year old. Compression? When it runs, (after it's warmed up) it runs normal. This is a second hand engine I had installed five years ago. It NEVER ran as good as the first engine.

Could be a bad ignition coil. Check that out as well if you haven't already.

What type of plugs are you using?? Did the old plugs have oil or gas on them??

Old plugs were clean. No oil. Will check coil.

This actually leads me to believe it's a cold-start issue, closed-loop operation problem.

Temp sensor is typically the culprit.
