Does anyone have any experience with Ruff Racing wheels? They are part of the Status Wheel product line and have 2 styles of wheels that I am seriously looking at. I have done a forum search and don't find anything on Ruff Racing. The styles that I am looking at are the R281 and the R278. I am looking at the 18 x 8.5 but they also come in 19".

R281

R278

I called them this morning and the wheels are 1 piece cast aluminum wheels so the rivets are for looks not function (fake). The approximate weight of the wheels are 30lbs for the 18" and 34lbs for the 19".

30lbs and 34lbs? dang,..that's pretty heavy considering rolling mass weight.

Plus the fact that they aren't very wide. I've got 18x10s and they are cheap cast aluminum and they are only 27 lbs. You are looking at getting 9s right? They should be significantly lighter than 27 lbs, maybe the 23 lb range. Definitely not 30 though.

Your shocks will definitely see the difference in wheel weight for those.

The weight numbers that I was given were the shipping weights so I don't know what the actual wheel weight is and they don't / won't say... Nobody locally carries them so I am going to do some additional research and see if any of the on-line stores will actually weigh them for me so I can find out the real numbers. Either way I think they are going to be heavy.

OK here is the updated information...

The actual wheel weight for the 18 x 8.5 is 23lbs. They are +35 offset and the cost I was quoted by one of the vendors was $920 for the set of 4 delivered.

Those look great! Thanks for posting the pics, now I don't have to wonder what they would like on the coupe. Now the question is should I move up a size or lower the car...

If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost of the wheels and where did you get them? I have a quote for $230 per wheel delivered for the chrome.

I had a set of Ruff rims and they bent relatively easy (18x7.5 40mm offset)with 40's thus I had to deal with a jiggly steering wheel for a few years.

Thanks for the info. I will check into this. The coupe is actually my 16 year old son's car so I am sure that he might be taking a few curbs which could be a problem if these are not very solid rims.

if you like the top wheels check out the ultra platinum 200 apex. very light weight and somewhat strong and a very solid buy for the price. they only come in 18's and 20's so 19's aren't an option, but check um out.

Those look nice but I'm not sure how light weight they are. It shows the shipping weight as 33 pounds which is more than what the Ruff's are. I will look into it a bit more to see if I can find out the actual wheel weight. Also, they are only 18 x 8 with a +40 offset vs the Ruff's which are 18 x 8.5 +35 offset

Looks good, time for a drop now. In my opinion I don't like 45 tires they look thick and don't perform as good as a 30 or 35 tire. On the bending part of the wheels, I roll on many different types and to me they all bend the same or crack. Just avoid pots holes and you'll be good!
