I've been getting a "rubbing" sound from what sounds/feels like the front passenger side when I turn my steering wheel to the right and driving slow (5-10 mph). I took it in to the dealership and they replaced something to do with the steering column but I am still getting this sound. I thought maybe my brakes were hanging or not releasing but they said my front brakes are fine, but they replaced my rears (~27000 mi). However, it still feels very rough when I apply my brakes also. These maybe two separate issues, but they feel very similar to each other. Anyone else with this rubbing issue?

Is any part of the wheel well shield not attached properly? Only thing I can think of is if the tire is rubbing against the sheild or another piece of something inside the wheel well

I just dealt with this same problem on my 08 m35x for the past 6 months or so. Dealership kept saying it was the ABS breaks; normal sound from the pwr steering assist etc. I had Infiniti Tech support and Consumer Affairs involved. They finally replaced my steering rack yesterday and completed an alignment. So far, that has solved my problem. My car made vibratation/rubbing/grunting sometimes soft sometimes loud but only on right turns and in reverse to the right. Never to the left.

there are a number of other posts on this very issue.

Hope this helps.

Thanks...I took it to one dealership who replaced the steering rack but to no avail. I saw on this forum that the Infiniti dealership in Flemington NJ had a great service department and service manager so I gave them a shot. They actually replaced the brand new steering rack again at the advice of infiniti tech support and again it did not fix the problem. After some additional troubleshooting, they found a loose bolt on the steering linkage and viola! the noise and vibration was gone. I can not say enough about the tremendous customer service I received from Flemington Infiniti and the Service Manager Rob. They even offered to provide pickup and drop off service to my place of work almost an hour away...I shall go nowhere else to have my car serviced!!

Hello all,

I have a 2006 m35x with about 43000 miles. Whenever I make slow right turns i notice a grinding or pulling sound. I've taken her in for service and had the steering racks and power steering pumps replaced. Can anyone tell me if this a common problem and if anyone else has dealt with the same issue and gotten fixed? Please help!!
