Rubbing noise in steering column only when turning right

92 240sx

Sounds like plastic against rubber. Only occurs when the wheel is going from left to right. I removed the steering wheel but noise still occurs.

You removed the steering wheel?! That can't be safe to drive like that.

But seriously...is your car lowered? It might be your tire rubbing the fender liner.

noise is from steering column area. i will get my stethoscope out to try to narrow it down. i dont really know what is in the steering column. i guess the combination switch. i see ball bearings but I dont think it is a ball bearing noise.
